Primary text
Debt that encumbers the person of a male slave is a defect if his master is insolvent, as is liability for a crime requiring retaliation (*qawad*). This is because the slave's person becomes subject to fulfillment of payment regarding the crime or sale for the debt, and liable to destruction via *qisas* (retaliation).
