Primary text

It is not permissible for the buyer of the bulk grain to sell it until he moves it from its location. This is affirmed by Ahmad in one narration. Possession, in this context, is established by moving the item, as indicated by reports and the custom of taking possession of bulk goods. The general principle is that one must take full possession ('istifa') before reselling the foodstuff.

Another narration from Ahmad, chosen by Al-Qadi, permits selling it before moving it, aligning with the Maliki position, because it is a specific item requiring no further measure, similar to a present garment.
