Is it permissible to contract a loan for unspecified weights of Dirhams or Dinars?

Primary text
It is not permissible to contract a loan for Dirhams or Dinars whose weight is not specified. This is because a loan necessitates the return of the equivalent (mithl), and if the equivalent cannot be ascertained, repayment becomes impossible. This principle applies similarly to borrowing measures or weights sold as *juraf* (a measure of bulk without careful weighing or measuring). Furthermore, even if specified by a particular measure or standard weight unknown to the general public, it is impermissible because one cannot be certain of returning the equivalent, making repayment difficult, similar to issues in *salam* contracts.
