Is it permissible to enter into a Salam contract for an item whose quantity is specified by a particular measure or weight device?

It is not permissible to enter into a Salam contract for something whose quantity is specified by a particular measure (mikyāl) or a particular scale (ṣanja). The contract is invalid for the same reason the contract for the specific orchard yield is invalid: the uncertainty regarding its destruction or interruption.
