Is it permissible to exchange items that inherently consist of two different components by creation?
Chapter on Riba (Usury) and Exchange (Sarf)

Primary text
The exchange of items composed of two natural components, such as dates containing pits, or an animal containing meat and fat, is permissible when exchanged for an item of the same kind. The inner contents are disregarded in this specific exchange. This is established by the action of the Prophet, peace be upon him, who permitted the exchange of dates for dates and animals for animals, despite the known presence of their constituent parts.
