Primary text

It is permissible for the guardian of an orphan to engage in *Ibdā'* (depositing) of the orphan's wealth, which means entrusting it to someone for trade. The entirety of the profit generated belongs to the orphan. This permissibility is supported by the narration that Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, engaged in *Ibdā'* regarding the wealth of Muhammad bin Abi Bakr. The rationale is that if depositing the wealth for a share of the profit is permitted, then entrusting it to someone who maximizes the profit is even more appropriate.
