Primary text

It is permissible for the guardian to purchase a sacrificial animal for the orphan, provided the orphan possesses significant wealth such that the purchase does not cause harm. This action is considered part of the discretionary spending on this festive day, aiming to comfort the orphan's heart and treat him like one who has a father, equating it to purchasing fine clothing or meat. This is further supported by the recommendation to be generous on this day, evidenced by the Prophetic statement: "Indeed, they are days of eating, drinking, and remembrance of Allah Almighty" (Reported by Muslim).
