It is also forbidden for a person to engage in a purchase upon the purchase of his brother by approaching the seller before the contract becomes binding and offering more than the agreed-upon price for the item being sold. This is deemed forbidden because it falls under the meaning of what is prohibited, and because the term 'purchase' (*shira'*) is synonymous with 'sale' (*bay'*) and is thus included within the prohibition. This is analogous to the Prophet's prohibition against proposing marriage upon the proposal of his brother, as the interfering party is in the position of the suitor.
