When is it permissible for one to borrow on behalf of another?
Chapter on Loan (Qard)
Al-Mughni
Book of Sales
Primary text
The Judge stated that borrowing on behalf of another is disliked (Makruh) only if the person for whom the loan is being taken is not known for fulfilling his debts, as this constitutes deceiving the lender and causing him harm. However, if the borrower is known for repayment, it is not disliked, as it functions as aiding him and relieving his distress.
