Is it permissible to sell the debt for a specified item of a different genus that is also a debt?

If one purchases the debt from the debtor for an item specified in the debtor's obligation but of a different genus, it is permissible. However, separation before taking possession is not allowed because this constitutes a sale of debt for debt.
