Is it permissible to sell a slaughtered animal while it is still in its skin?
Chapter on Selling Assets and Fruits
Al-Mughni
Book of Sales
Primary text
The sale of a slaughtered animal while it is still in its skin is permissible. The justification is that if its sale is valid before slaughter when it is intended for slaughter, then its sale remains valid after slaughter. This is analogous to a pomegranate which may be sold whole, and remains sellable after being broken open.
