Primary text

If the residue contains any remaining extracted substance, such as trading sesame oil for the spent sesame seed cake (kasab) or trading olive oil for its residue that still contains oil, the exchange is impermissible. This prohibition applies unless the narration allowing the exchange of a Sa' of dried Ajwah dates for a measure of lesser quality dates is applicable. If the residue contains none of the extracted juice, then trading the juice for the residue is permissible, whether equal or unequal in measure, as they are considered two distinct genera.
