It is invalid to sell a commodity measured by volume using weight, or a commodity weighed using volume. This is because the condition for validity requires matching the standard of measure applicable to the item: volume for volume (kayl) and weight for weight (wazn). Selling a volume commodity by weight invalidates the exchange because the equality in volume cannot be verified, similar to selling by conjecture (juzaf). Similarly, selling a weighed commodity by volume does not ensure the required equality by weight, rendering the transaction invalid.
