Knowledge of singing or proficiency in cupping (*hijamah*) are not defects. While it is reported from Malik that singing is a defect in a female slave because singing is forbidden, this knowledge does not cause a flaw in her essence or value, similar to other crafts. Furthermore, even if singing were forbidden, only its practice, not its knowledge, would be prohibited. Being left-handed (*usr*) is not a defect; Sharih used to reject slaves for this reason, but the correct view is that it is not a defect because it does not diminish value, as the use of one hand suffices for the use of the other.
