If a female slave (amah) gives birth while in the buyer's possession, and subsequently the offspring dies, there is a potential liability for the buyer regarding that offspring. This liability is based on the principle that the offspring represents an increase in the guaranteed sold item.

Alternatively, the offspring is treated like other natural increases. If the original slave is lost after the birth, the value of the offspring is deducted from the total value, and the buyer is liable only for the remaining value of the mother slave at the time of the total loss.
