What obligations does the person intending to borrow have regarding disclosure?

Whoever intends to borrow must inform the person from whom he is borrowing about his financial status and should not deceive himself regarding his ability to repay, unless the amount is minor, the like of which cannot be refused.

Imam Ahmad stated that if one borrows on behalf of another without informing that person of his situation, it is not pleasing to him. He also stated that he dislikes borrowing based on one's prestige for his brothers.
