The view that one party can be compelled to allow a settlement to resolve the dispute, or else the contract is dissolved, is not found to be directly attributed to Ahmad by Ibn Aqil, who suggests it may be an opinion held by some of our companions. The apparent choice of Al-Qadi is not the established Madhhab of Ahmad.
