Primary text

Lending is recommended (Mandub) for the lender. This ruling is established based on narrations, including the hadith from Abu Hurairah stating that whoever relieves a Muslim of a worldly distress, Allah will relieve them of a distress from the distresses of the Day of Resurrection, and that Allah is in aid of the servant so long as the servant is in aid of his brother. Furthermore, Abu Ad-Darda stated that lending two dinars to be returned, and then lending them again, is more beloved to him than giving them as charity, because it involves relieving a Muslim brother's distress, fulfilling his need, and assisting him, thus making it recommended like voluntary charity.
