Primary text

When a buyer purchases a female slave stipulating that she is a virgin (*bikr*), but subsequently asserts she is not a virgin (*thayyib*), the assertion must be confirmed by trustworthy women. The statement of one trustworthy woman is accepted in this matter. If the buyer then has sexual intercourse with her and claims, 'I did not find her to be a virgin,' two opinions arise, contingent upon the differing narrations regarding disputes over subsequent defects.
