What is the ruling on returning a defective item if one seller sold the entire object based on the agency of the other seller?

The ruling remains the same—the return must be handled proportionally—even if one seller sold the entirety of the item under the agency (Wikalāh) of the other. This applies whether the present party is the agent (Wakīl) or the principal (Muwakkil). A similar ruling has been stated by Ahmad.
