What is the ruling on the seller's transaction concerning the sold item during the option period according to Al-Shafi'i?
Chapter on the Option of the Two Parties in Sale
Al-Mughni
Book of Sales
Primary text
Al-Shafi'i holds that the seller's transaction concerning the sold item via sale, gift, or similar acts is valid. This is because either the item is still under the seller's ownership, in which case the transaction becomes binding upon it, or the item belongs to the buyer, and the seller possesses the right to revoke the contract; thus, the sale or gift is interpreted as the exercise of that revocation.

Regarding the buyer's transaction, it is invalid if we hold that ownership belongs to the other party. If we hold ownership belongs to the buyer, there are two views on the validity of their transaction.
