Primary text

The ruling on a slave's declaration regarding a physical injury is consistent whether he is authorized for trade or not. This falls into four categories. The first category involves injuries where the consequence is monetary loss, such as destruction of property, accidental injury, injury resembling intentional harm, or intentional injury without recourse to Qisas (retaliation), like a deep penetrating wound (Jafah). The declaration in these cases is not accepted because it is equivalent to a declaration of debt (money), similar to declaring ownership of dirhams or dinars.
