Is the sale voidable if an injury necessitating amputation, such as the cutting of a hand, occurs while the slave is in the buyer's possession?

If the injury necessitates cutting off a limb, and it is cut off while in the buyer's possession, the slave has become defective in his possession. This raises two narrations regarding whether this prevents voiding the sale based on defect.
Supporting text
If the buyer purchased the slave knowing about this defect, he has no right to return him nor claim compensation, similar to other defective items. This is the opinion of Al-Shafi'i.
