The term 'al-Ibar' among the people of knowledge means pollination, but it is used idiomatically to signify the appearance of the fruit after the blossom splits because this appearance is intrinsically linked to the pollination. The ruling is tied to this appearance, not the pollination itself, without scholarly disagreement. The Prophet, peace be upon him, used the term in the saying: "The best wealth is a well-maintained grove" ('sikkah ma'bura'), where 'sikkah' means rows of date palms.
