Primary text
It is impermissible to open an alcove (taq) or a door in a shared wall without the explicit permission of the co-owner. This prohibition is based on the principle that such an action constitutes utilizing another's property and an act of disposition that causes them harm. Similarly, one cannot plant posts in it, erect a wall upon it, screen it off, or engage in any form of disposition that involves damaging the wall, as this is analogous to demolishing it.
