Primary text
If one partner demolishes a shared wall or ceiling for any reason other than fear of imminent collapse, they are obligated to restore it. This obligation applies regardless of whether the demolition was done for a perceived necessity or another reason, and whether the demolisher explicitly committed to restoring it or not. The obligation stems from the fact that the harm or damage resulted from their own action.
