What is the ruling on a third party settling a claim made by a claimant on their own behalf without acknowledging the validity of the claim?

Primary text
If a third party settles a claim made by a claimant on their own behalf without admitting the validity of that claim, the settlement (*ṣulḥ*) is void. This is because the third party is purchasing something that is not proven to belong to the claimant, and there is no established dispute from which the third party is redeeming something. This situation is analogous to purchasing the property of another person.
