Is an agreement valid where the laborer receives half of whatever crop is produced, irrespective of the type?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Sharecropping (Musāqāh)
Primary text
An agreement stating that the laborer receives one-half of whatever is cultivated is valid. This is supported by the precedent where the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, engaged in Musaqah (sharecropping) with the people of Khaybar, agreeing that they would receive half of whatever was produced, whether fruit or crops.
