Is the earnings (*kasb*) of an undelivered slave (*mudabbar*) made during the master's life considered the master's property?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Tadbir (Deferred Emancipation)
Primary text
The earnings of the undelivered slave (*mudabbar*) during the life of his master belong to the master, and the master has the right to take it. This is because the status of *tadbir* (manumission upon death) is similar to a bequest of manumission, suspension upon a condition, or an umm walad (conceived slave girl). In all these cases, their earnings belong to their master, so the same applies to the *mudabbar*.
