Is it valid to institute *tadbir* upon the child but not the mother, or upon the mother but not the child?

Primary text
It is valid to institute *tadbir* upon the child without the mother, or upon the mother without the child. This is permissible because it is valid to manumit one without the other, thus making the conditional manumission (*tadbir*) of one without the other also valid. This is comparable to attaching a condition to manumission, such as entry into a house; the condition can apply to one individual without applying to the other.
