Primary text

Repentance is accepted for every sin for which it is required of the doer. This is established by the statement of Allah: "And those who, when they have committed an indecency or wronged themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins - and who forgives sins except Allah? - and do not persist in what they have done, while they know" (Quran 3:135), followed by "Those for them will be forgiveness from their Lord" (Quran 3:136). Also, "And whoever does evil or wrongs himself and then seeks forgiveness from Allah, he will find Allah Forgiving, Merciful" (Quran 4:110). Furthermore, the Prophet, peace be upon him, stated, "The one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin." Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, added that the remaining life of the believer is invaluable, in which he can attain what was missed, revive what was dead, and Allah substitutes his evil deeds with good ones.
