Primary text
The chanting of the Bedouins (Nashid al-A'rab), which is the uplifted chant (Nask), is permissible. All other types of recitation are also permissible so long as they do not transition into the realm of singing (Ghinā'). The Prophet, peace be upon him, used to listen to the recitation of poetry without expressing disapproval.
