Is the testimony of a female slave valid?

The testimony of a female slave (*amah*) is valid in matters where the testimony of free women is valid. Since the testimony of women is not accepted in matters of prescribed punishments (*hudud*) or retaliation (*qisas*), but only in financial matters or their causes, the female slave is treated like the free woman in all other matters, thus equating their standing in testimony. This ruling is supported by the Hadith of 'Uqbah ibn al-Harith.
