Primary text

If a male animal (*fahl*) is usurped and then used to breed with a female animal belonging to the rightful owner, the offspring belongs to the owner of the female animal because lineage follows the dam. The usurper is not entitled to any fee for the service because the Prophet, peace be upon him, prohibited compensation for the stud service (*'asb al-fahl*).

Supporting text

If the act of coitus damages the male animal, the usurper must compensate for the resulting decrease in value.
