What is the ruling if usurped wine is kept by the usurper until it turns into vinegar (khal)?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Usurpation
Primary text
If the usurper keeps the wine in his possession until it turns into vinegar, he must return the vinegar to its owner, as it has become vinegar, which falls under the ruling of property owned by the original owner. Consequently, its return is obligatory. If the vinegar perishes, the usurper must guarantee its value, because it was property of the dispossessed that perished while in the usurper's possession.
