What is the legal status of a vow of rancor or anger (Nadhar al-Lajaj wa al-Ghadab)?

A vow made in a manner similar to an oath, intended to prompt or prevent an action without intending the vow itself or seeking nearness to Allah (Qurbah), is treated in the same legal manner as an oath. This ruling has been previously addressed in the chapter on Oaths.
