Primary text

There are two differing views regarding the obligation of an expiation for failing to fulfill the manner specified in the vow, specifically when the manner itself is unlawful. The dominant school of thought (*Qiyas al-Madhhab*) dictates that an expiation is obligatory due to the breach of the *sifah* (stipulated characteristic) of the vow, even if the specified manner was unlawful, similar to cases where the root vow itself was unlawful.

The alternative view arises from the previous discussion concerning the requirement of only one Tawaf; if the violation stems from performing an unlawful act, then the obligation for expiation based on the breach might be waived.
