Primary text

If the specific item vowed, such as a sheep, cloth, wheat, or gold, is something transportable, it must be conveyed to the Haram and distributed among its poor. If the vowed item is something not transportable, such as a house, land, or a tree, it must be sold, and the proceeds sent to the poor of the Haram, because giving the item itself is impossible, so the fulfillment defaults to its equivalent value.

Supporting text

It is related from Ibn Umar that when asked about a woman who vowed a house as Hady, he instructed that she sell it and give the price in charity to the poor of the Haram.
