Primary text
Upon the death of the husband of a revocably divorced woman (Raj'iyyah), she must begin a new waiting period specific to widowhood, which is four months and ten days. There is no dispute regarding this ruling. This is because the revocably divorced woman is considered his wife such that his divorce could still affect her, and she is entitled to his inheritance. Therefore, she observes the waiting period for widowhood, similar to a woman who was never divorced. Scholars agree on this point based on her status as an heir and one to whom his divorce applied.
