Primary text

There are two differing scholarly opinions regarding a woman whose menstruation returns after the expiration of the one-year waiting period but before she remarries. One view holds that she does not revert to the menstrual count because the waiting period was completed based on months, and thus it cannot be reversed, analogous to the minor woman's case. The second view states that she must revert to the menstrual count because she is a woman normally subject to that measure (dhawat al-quru'), and she was capable of the original measure before a right of marriage was established over her, necessitating a return to the menstrual count, just as if she had menstruated within that initial year.
