What is the ruling when only the wife knows she is observing 'Iddah?

If the wife knows she is observing 'Iddah while the husband is ignorant of it, the wife is subject to the *hadd* penalty for fornication. She is not entitled to dower, but the lineage of any offspring is legally established with the husband.
