What is the waiting period obligation for an *Umm Walad* whose marriage is dissolved by divorce after consummation, or upon the husband's death (before or after consummation)?

If the husband divorces her after consummation (*masees*) or if the husband dies before or after consummation, she must observe a full waiting period (*Iddah*) required for a free woman. This is because she attained the status of a free woman during the period when the *Iddah* became obligatory upon her.
