Primary text

Wearing all forms of jewelry, including rings, is forbidden for the woman observing Iddah, according to the general opinion of scholars. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) decree: "nor jewelry." Jewelry is prohibited because it enhances her beauty and invites physical approach.

Supporting text

Ata stated that silver jewelry is permissible while gold is not. This view is incorrect because the prohibition mentioned in the Hadith is general.
