Primary text

A free woman whose parents were slaves has no loyalty (*Wala'*) upon her, even if her father was manumitted by someone else. This situation arises in two scenarios: first, if all were originally non-Muslims, she converted to Islam while her parents were enslaved. Second, if her father was a slave who married a free woman falsely claiming her to be a slave, bore children, and then the mother died leaving the father's emancipator as heir; the emancipator does not inherit from the daughter because she has no *Wala'* upon her.
