What is the nature of *Wala'* in relation to kinship?

*Wala'* is similar to kinship (*Nasab*). Ibn Mas'ud stated that selling *Wala'* is like selling one's lineage. Because it is an attribute by which inheritance is established, it cannot be transferred, just as kinship is not transferred.
