Primary text

If a Muslim frees a Muslim, or if a *Dhimmi* frees a Muslim, and that freed person then commits apostasy (*Irtadd*) and joins *Dar al-Harb*, subsequently being captured, it is not permissible to re-enslave him. If he is purchased, the purchase contract is void, and no action is accepted from him except repentance or execution.
