Can a husband prevent his wife from drinking non-intoxicating beverages?

If a wife desires to drink a non-intoxicating liquid, the husband may prevent the Muslim wife because both parties believe it to be forbidden. However, if she is a Dhimmi, he cannot prevent her because she believes it to be permissible according to her own religion. This position was explicitly stated by Ahmad.
