Is it permissible to bring two wives to the husband on the same night?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of the Wedding Feast
Primary text
It is disliked (makruh) that two wives be brought to a man on the same night or during the period of the right of consummation (haqq 'aqd) belonging to one of them. This is because it is impossible for him to fulfill the right of both, leading to harm and distress for the wife whose right is neglected. If this is done and one wife is brought in before the other, the husband must first fulfill the right of the first wife, then attend to the second, and only then resume the division of nights (qasm).
Supporting text
If the second wife is brought in while the first wife is currently within her designated period of right, the husband must complete the time due to the first wife before fulfilling the right of the second.
