Cutting meat with a knife is permissible. This ruling is established based on the action of the Prophet (PBUH) mentioned in the hadith where he dropped the meat from his hand before praying.

The report claiming that meat should not be cut with a knife because it is a practice of the non-Arabs (*al-a'ajam*) and that one should tear at it, as this is more wholesome and easier to digest, is not authentic.
