Is it recommended to pronounce the name of Allah (Tasmiyah) before eating?

Pronouncing the name of Allah before eating is recommended (Mustahabb). This is evidenced by the narration of 'Umar ibn Abi Salamah, where the Prophet, peace be upon him, instructed him: 'O boy, mention Allah, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is nearest to you.' This hadith is agreed upon (Muttafaq 'alayh). Furthermore, if one forgets to mention the name at the beginning, they should say, 'Bismillahi awwalahu wa akhirahu' (In the name of Allah, at its beginning and its end).
